Read with Pride

Informative non-fiction
Welcome back!  We hope you had a great half term break and found plenty of opportunity to read and relax.

June is LGBT+ Pride Month.  As well as being a time to celebration it is also an opportunity to peacefully protest and raise awareness of the current issues facing the LBGTQ+ community.  Pride takes place in June because that is the month the Stonewall Riots happened in the USA in 1969.  This year, because of Covid-19 restrictions, Pride marches in London will take place on the weekend of the 11th September.

The Library has a diverse collection of LGBT+ literature, both fiction and non-fiction for you to explore.  Including award winning novels such as  Black Flamingos by Dean Atta,  Things a Bright Girl Can Do by Sally Nicholls and Eight Pieces of Silva by Patrice Lawrence.
