Book Adaptations on TV

This Autumn, there are some great adaptations of classic and contemporary novels, including War of the Worlds by H G Wells and His Dark Materials based on Philip Pullman's award winning trilogy. If you enjoy the TV series, why not try reading the books, which are all available to borrow from the Library?

Look out for Malorie Blackman’s Noughts and Crosses, which is due to be shown on the BBC later this year.

Remembrance Day 2019

Armistice Day, also known as Remembrance Day, takes place on 11 November every year, marking the official ending of World War I on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918.  A two-minute silence is held to remember the people who have died in wars.  There is also Remembrance Sunday, the second Sunday in November, which falls on 10th November this year.

Eden Park High School will be supporting the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. This year, as well as poppies, we have been sent a variety of items to be sold as part of the appeal, which are available from main reception.

The Library has a special display of books featuring wartime, which are available to borrow and browse.

This term, we're looking forward to starting our English Reading Folder lessons, where students have the opportunity to browse, borrow and read for pleasure as well as completing tasks and taking part in reading activities.

We have now appointed four Year 9 Library Helpers, Shenai, Yash, Alex and Luc, who will be joining the lunch time Library team from next week.  Ms Peters and I are very much looking forward to working with them.

Mrs Nolan, Librarian.
