Diverse Book Awards 2021 - shortlist announced

Created by The Author School, the Diverse Book Awards highlight the best of diverse voices, novels featuring Black, Asian, Latin American and/or inclusive main characters, published in the UK.

The Awards are divided into three categories, children's, Young Adult and Adult, with seven books shortlisted per category.  The books nominated in the YA category, most of which are available to borrow from the EPHS Libraries, are:

The winner will be announced on an online awards ceremony at 7pm on 21st October 2021.

World Kid Lit Month - travel the world through books!

September is World Kid Lit Month.  World Kid it celebrates literature for children and teens, particularly fiction, non-fiction and poetry, and is an opportunity to think about diversity by exploring world literature and translations.

An Evening With Malorie Blackman, 16th September

To celebrate the publication of the last book in her iconic Noughts and Crosses series Endgame, Malorie Blackman is taking part in a live Zoom event this Thursday.  Malorie will talk about her experience of writing and publishing the series, 20 years after the first book was published.


Tickets start at £8.50, with the option to add a limited signed hardback copy of the book.  To find out more click here.  The book is on our wish list! International Literacy Day - reading for pleasure

Today is UNESCO International Literacy Day, which highlights the importance of
literacy for individuals, communities and societies across the world.  In the UK, the Read Hour campaign is encouraging everyone to drop everything and read for one hour - whether that is a book, magazine or graphic novel!  O
riginating in Finland the campaign features Tove Jansson's Moomins.

Through out the day today, EPHS students have spent time reading in the Library as part of their Library Lessons.
