Summer Reading

We hope you are having a great Summer and enjoying some rest and relaxation with a good book!  If you are looking for you next favourite read, the winners of the YA Book Prize 2023 and the new TikTok Book Awards will be announced later this month.

The ten shortlisted books for the YA Book Prize include some great Young Adult titles, including the Carnegie nominated The Eternal Return of Clara Hart by Louise Finch and Kemosha of the Caribbean by Alex Wheatle. You can read the first chapter of all ten shortlisted books on the YA Book Prize website by clicking here.  All the previous YA Book Prize winners are available to borrow from the EPHS Libraries.

Among the seven TikTok Book Awards categories is the 'Best Book I Wish I Could Read Again for the First Time'.  The shortlist includes EPHS favourites Noughts + Crosses by Malorie Blackman and Heartstopper: Volume One by Alice Oseman.  The 'Best BookTok Revival' category includes the dystopian classic 1984 by George Orwell and Jane Austen's historical romance, Pride and Prejudice.

Mrs Nolan has been enjoying reading the books from her Mr Bs Emporium book subscription, one of the bookshops shortlisted for the TikTok Book Awards 'Indie Bookshop of the Year' category.

The books include a country house murder mystery, The Three Dahlias by Kate Watson, a sinister and unsettling thriller with a beautiful cover, Mrs March by Virginia Feito and a coming of age novel, The Whalebone Theatre by Joanna Quinn.
