Ms Peters splits her time between the Science Department and the Library. Some of her time in the Science department is spent caring for the newest member of the EPHS family, Penny the African tortoise! Here are some interesting facts about Penny:
- Penny is a large breed of tortoise.
- She is used to a tropical climate and does not hibernate.
- She will sleep for approximately 15 hours a day and enjoys a diet of vegetables and fresh grass and dandelions.
- Penny likes to walk and roam, particularly in outdoor space.
This week's First News ran an article about Alagaba the tortoise, and former member of the Nigerian Royal household, who has died at the ripe old age of 344! Will Penny live that long?!
